The pain factor is irrelevant; don’t get your ears pierced at Claire’s. They use a piercing gun which is unhygenic (unable to sterilize properly) and the piercing gun method just forces the jewellery in your lobe.
Can I bring my own earrings to piercing?
There is no harm in bringing your own earrings provided they are light in weight and not too heavy for you to carry as it pains after the piercing is done . The pain may be prolonged for weeks so wearing heavy earings will create discomfort and will give you more pain.

Standard earlobe piercings from a professional piercing studio should cost between £10-£20, while a cartilage piercing can cost a bit more, between £25-£40. The most important thing is to not simply go for the cheapest option, and make sure you are being pierced by a professional and experienced piercing artist.

HOW OLD DO YOU HAVE TO BE? Claire’s specialises in safely and gently piercing people’s ears, including infants from the age of 6 months and young children. Piercings will not be conducted on infants under the age of 6 months. Infants will need to have a current DTaP shot, which typically takes place at 8 weeks old.
Using piercing guns, like at Claire’s, causes massive trauma to the skin and flesh as instead of a hollow, sharp needle, the ear is pierced with a solid and fairly blunt earring, forced through the ear at speed. This can cause a lot of scarring, and the ear will take longer to heal.
Ask your doctor to prescribe a topical numbing cream with lidocaine derivatives that can help anesthetize the earlobes. Layer a thick coat of the cream onto the lobes 30 to 60 minutes before the piercing. Experts also say that applying ice 15 to 30 minutes before the piercing might help numb the pain receptors.
You may feel a pinch and some throbbing after, but it shouldn’t last long. The pain from either piercing method is probably equivalent. The ear has nerves all through it. But the fatty tissue in the earlobe has less than other areas, so it may feel less painful.
